Routerboard suggestions on my future setup

Mon Dec 06, 2010 7:14 am

I'm new to Mikrotik and can't decide on a board. My setup:

Network 1:
retail store with DSL 1/6mb connection. Two POS terminals on 100mb connection sending data to server in network 2. 1 desktop on 100mb connection. 2-3 laptops. ATT 2wire2701 modem/router.

Network 2:
Office next door to retail store with VDSL 1.5/12mb connection. Houses my file server with vpn abilities. 9 desktop on 1000mb connection, 2-3 laptops. Uverse 2wire3800 modem/router.

400 ft from office to store. I need to bridge the two networks and have highest possible wireless connection from building to building. there is an ally that cuts off the two buildings. fairly clear view from building to building. I would like to be able to set the wireless bridge in the basement where all my other hardware is at. Its a 150 ft run of wire from basement to windows where i would like to setup a directional antenna. Same goes for the store. Is that possible and what wire type do i need?

Thanks all.

if you are saying : the radio inside and the antenna 100 feet away, that won't work.

you would have to run cat five and have a radio in outdoor enclosure : max distance 300 feet

Poe powers the radio over cat 5

use a RB411 in outdoor enclosure with lmr 400 to your antenna (or enclosure with panel antenna built in)

If you need an outdoor Mikrotik NEMA enclosure try using the following unexpensive product I found on ebay:

It works great for my RB411AH and even offer some additional mounting space in the cover.

Not sure what frequency are you using but I also found an enclosure with 26dBi 5GHz patch MTI antenna that could be a nice deal for a PtP link.
