i am considering upgrading my current x86 4.11 router to 5.x due to webcfg interface. i like it and would like to take the plunge.

i also wanted to ask (since i use the current web proxy).. has it improved in 5.x? is the web proxy more efficient? (this is a x86 pc as i said)

please advise.

there are no changes for web proxy at this moment.

About Webfig - it is still very unstable and we are doing rounds of testing. When you try to use it, best results should be achieved using Mozilla Firefox latest version. Other browsers may work, but are not tested as this feature is not that stable yet to start testing on other browsers.
