Bandwidth Test Questions

Sat Feb 05, 2011 7:30 pm

Here's another question from a MT noob.

I have two MT boxes, one setup as a router one setup as a switch. Both are firewalled to only allow administrative access from our office IP block.

I'd like to use the bandwidth tests built into the MT boxes, but haven't been able to get them to work.

For testing, I turned off authentication on the server on both sides. Then, after still failing, I put a rule in the firewall to allow all access from the other MT box (put it on both sides).

Still, whenever I run the test it just sits there "connecting". Is there something simple I'm missing?

The Mikrotik bw test will only run between two MT routerboards. Is that what you're trying to do?

Yes that's what I'm trying to do, and I've turned off authentication.

I can confirm this issue as well. Tried a bandwidth test in RoS 4.16 and it doesn't work. I did an `nmap` of udp 2000 and it says closed. I've tested in every way I can think- making sure firewall filters are off, with and without auth, a few different Routerboards.

Edit: Also when I set the protocol to UDP, torch on the interface shows a TCP packet.

Something seems to be broken.

Anyone from MT care to chime in on this?
