I am just now working out all the travel methods to get from Hotel to Budapest City centre. Hotel is on the north side of the city. There is a free hotel mini bus from Hotel to "City" as follows:
1030, 1330, 1530, 1630, 1730, 2000
Return times for free bus from "City" to Hotel is:
1000, 1100, 1400, 1600, 1700, 1800
Yes, the last free bus is at 1800! So ibersystems is correct, if you wish to enjoy a meal in the city or a beer (or two, or three or...), you will be forced to take a taxi back. The nearest metro is 45 minutes walk away from Hotel, so if you take Metro on your return, the 45 minute walk will remove all the alcohol from your blood. Not good!
The free bus does not take you into the city centre, again, as ibersystems states, it only takes you to the outside of the city centre. You must then take a Metro train to get into "real" city centre. Or face a 30 minute walk.
I paid an extra €5 for an evening buffet meal every day in hotel, which was "ok" last night (the hot food could have been hotter). I originally planned I was going to go into City every night for a meal, but think it will be hotel restaurant for food and restaurant bar for beers if the prices ibersystems has found so far are universal!
My room price also included free access to the Spa, but this does not include free access to 'Aquaworld', so if I want to enjoy the 5 story high water slides, I have to pay!
(Hotel tells me price is 50% for guests).
One good piece of advice for those flying into Airport: Get some Hungarian money before you arrive and buy a ticket for the 'Airport Shuttle mini-bus' from Airport to Aquaworld Ramada Hotel. Door to door for 2990 HFl (about €10). Do NOT get a taxi. Get this bus. Journey time was about 45 minutes and will take passengers to any hotel they ask for, so the route may vary each time. But for €10, this is the best value transport in Budapest!! Do not pay for ticket in Euros, then the price becomes €35!
