PPPoE and non-PPPoE on same interface

Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:28 am

In an apartment complex I have a DSLAM that is connected to a router's Ethernet port. On the Ethernet interface I've added a PPPoE Server using a pool of internet routable addresses. However, I need to be able to access the DSLAM's management interface on the same Ethernet interface being used by the PPPoE server. The DSLAM must have a static IP address and cannot make use of PPPoE itself.

Customers connecting to the DSLAM through DSL get on the Internet with no problems. However, I cannot figure out how to configure the router to allow me to access the DSLAM's management interface from a remote location (our offices).

I'm sure this has a simple answer, but I'm new to Mikrotik's products and just don't see it.

Thanks

Just figured out one solution. I added a static route to the DSLAM's management interface. The destination address was the IP address of the DSLAM and the Gateway was the Ethernet Interface.
