Touch-friendly Webfig

Wed Apr 13, 2011 4:34 pm

Webfig has been great use for remote wireless access to RouterOS with smartphones, you know you have it all in your pocket and with some touches you get things done. It's really not that easy to type command lines on rooftops or towers, but using Webfig cures that all. But it has some limitations of its own. Particularly with double-click when you want to edit an entry. You can do it on a PC, it's pretty straightforward just double-click. But double-clicking on a touchscreen smartphone browser doesn't do the trick (at least not in most of the cases).

I think it would be easier to implement one-click on the Webfig interface, because after all it's not that Webfig allows you to SELECT, so double-click is not needed. Or it could have a E (edit) box right after the D (disable) one. It's a pretty easy solution. Besides this Webfig's been great.

That would make it touch-friendly.

Please consider this as a recommendation, not a request :)

in v5.0 there was a single click, so touch devices worked. we introduced double click to make dragging of rules possible, now this introduced the ipad issue. we will try to solve it somehow, maybe by adding an open button on the right side of the rule rows

Well I'm using v5.0 and I can't open any entry (rule) with single-click, nor can I drag them. I tried Firefox and Android stock browser, I don't really know if this is a browser specific (javascript specific engine).

ok maybe this was changed in one of the Rc releases. But what I wrote still stands, we are looking how to solve it. The Drag functionality I mentioned was meant for PCs with a mouse

I was thinking so, but anyway I was only suggesting a fix for the issue.

Have a good day.
