We are still improving this rate selection algorithm, but you can now look how it is working for you now. We recommend it to test first on the test links before testing on production links.

Hi,
I just updated my router. This is just a 'cosmetic' thing. When connecting to WebFig v5.3
and clicking on New Terminal. I'm getting a message like:
Firefox prevented this site from opening XX pop-up windows.
XX is incrementing every half of a second.
In Firefox, if I go to settings and click on view: '
http://xx.xx.xx.xx/webfig/terminal.html?u8=0'
Terminal opens.

Hi,
I've been testing with v5.3 userman for few hours - seems finally production ready:
"Start at first login" in profiles is fixed, along with some other problems.

The Changelog does not mention anything about routing crshed that MT said will be fixed in 5.3.
Any changes there and with bridging in some cases where there were some problems?
We need bridging to work before we can upgrade our hotspots from 4.17.

Very easy to fix on Firefox: just authorize the site using the button at the right of the message (where "site" means the RouterOS device) and there will be a nice terminal. Note that (at least on OpenBSD) you will probably get ten or so terminals next time you try to open one from WebFig, so I would you suggest closing Firefox, after authorizing the RouterOS device to open pop-up windows on your browser, and open Firefox again.
It is not a ROS bug, it is a Firefox feature used to prevent sites opening pop-up windows by default.

I upgraded one of our AP's to see if this would help out with the timing related disconnects. Not only did it not help with that I now have issues with the Ethernet port dropping in and out on that AP

We had problems with timeout based disconnects but had no issues with the Ethernet port flapping. The disconnects are worse than they were with 5.2.

I never had any issues with 5.2 and ethernet ports either.
Well I should say on 411's. I have had some issues with 5.x and 450G ethernet ports, not really flapping they just stop passing traffic and won't negotiate a connection to another RB450G
On this AP as soon as I upgraded it to 5.3 the flapping started, I have downgraded it back to 5.2 and the flapping disappeared.

Sure Sure, we all know how to fix this in Firefox, but WebFig should try to open just 1 (one) popup window and not 1 (one) every half of a second.

I am experienging it on rb433.
i get it flapping with real internet traffic, when i test with bandwidth test it is stable.
i think they need small packets to get flapping.
but i see many others complaining.
So i am pretty sure it is a big bug.

This is a bug in firefox. Chrome works fine. Webfig asked to focus on the new window, but as the window was blocked, the focus couldn't be completed. Chrome handles this correctly, and reports that focus request was done.
We will find a workaround.

An RB433AH (Production Unit) now running v5.3 for 11 hours. All stable, no ether port ports dropping noted. We will run this unit for a few days and if all still well, will upgrade another production unit, an RB800 and see how that does.
Upgraded a RB411 to 5.3, then added the ntp package, and /system reboot. Unit did not come back up, required a manual power cycle to get it up again. Fortunately this unit in close proximity, so no big problem, but if this happens on a high site, much pain and suffering to power cycle.

port flapping only occurs on certain configurations on specific ports after 40 minutes of traffic, the port can then disconnect/reconnect for less than a second. this should not cause any major problem, just an entry in the log.

we made a workaround for next release. the easy fix is to allow popups from the router's ip, then it will stop doing that.

Normis,
this statement is not correct, up/down on ethernet causes a lot of problem when you transport voip o tdmoip.
Then you need just 2sec (and not 40mins) to get it occurred with real tcp traffic.
So I would call it A MAJOR ISSUE!
still waiting about the test release to fix it....

I love the forum on the next morning after the release - refreshes like a coffee. As i upgraded more than several RB4xx to latest version last night. So far i can say that only 2 of those had flapping problem, and only in case you have OSPF on flapping interfaces it is actually noticeable, upgraded those two to v5.4. pre-release. Looks like problem is gone.
btw webfig popuping is gone also in pre-release v5.4

Normis, ethernet problem is serious enough, please see the attached image in the first post in less than 5 minutes switched on and off the port, that port bridge still has a delay of 8 seconds to normalize (lost more 6-pings) and is enough to cause such disconnection of winbox, fail if you browse a web page and closing sessions of MSN, I'm mikrotik user for over 5 years and ISP, actually this problem negatively affects I had to return immediately all to a version 5.2 or 4.17
The problem affects my RB 450, 433 and 493ah (in this case more sporadic)
also install in 532A and 333, these do not cause problems

5.4 fixes the eth flap problem.
nice thing nv2 support 300mbps data rate on dual chain.
nstreme (v1) uses a better HT data rate when i select advanced data rate, but at stability cost of the link when there is an high load.

Funny how a couple of us reported the port flapping issue a few weeks ago with loss of data also causing lock ups and watchdog reboots but not only did my thread get deleted twice..!, we also didnt get any resolve in our issues.... Now all of the sudden there bug affects more boards and boom! issue almost fixed immediatly. "so they say!"
Pfffff
Hey Normis, remeber my post that you deleted about loss of packets and ethernet ports being up and down constatly with also wrong duplex info in the log?
Just saying :p
and yes its a major issue having packets completly drop out for a second or two..
I didnt like the "its not a major issue" statement from Normis...
My two cents... be helpful and/or respectful and you get a more positive response. Nobody wants to spend their time helping a jerk. This "I told you so!" post is pretty much useless.

Cool so now rather than having to reboot every week from a memory leak we have to reboot every 40min now, great release.
And Normis, ANY kind of interface flapping is a serious problem, Dont try and downplay this and I hope someone in QA is getting yelled at right now

Hi,
I've been testing with v5.3 userman for few hours - seems finally production ready:
"Start at first login" in profiles is fixed, along with some other problems.
false alarm - built in radius server returns only speed limiting AV pairs, no session uptime limits or transfer limits ..

Cool so now rather than having to reboot every week from a memory leak we have to reboot every 40min now, great release.
you don't have to reboot, the only effect is an entry in the log, and a less than a second timout. the router continues to work and pass traffic. if you need the fix urgently, please email support as stated above.

i think V5 is in
Release Candidate stage still, not ready for production, consider yourself "Beta tester"

I had no major problems with V5 until now.
mikroitk should work more on the software or else moving to Ubiquity. New hardware from you is a step backwards. RB1100, RB1200, RB2011 ... poor performance. I want to see a 1U router with dual Intel Atom or Core 2, a reasonable number of Ethernet and SFP slots, passive cooling. That buys a lot of people instantly. It wants something reasonable and not RB1xxx or RB2xxx.
how fast is the RB1200 as gateway? Mangle 1000, 1000 QT, 500 nat ... 50Mbit? It is on it too. You have no power hardware.
Do you own big problems. Not listening to the right people. Implement unnecessary features that only people who want to have a small network (50 users) and have time to read this forum.
I use Mikrotik for over 5 years but what is happening is very bad.

Is long time feature requested
PPPoE Option 82 support Implemented in this version ?
IF features are implemented in order of "popularity" i'm afraid you are in back row
Me too . Unfortunately some little ( simple to programming ) enterprise features did not implemented because they are not popular .

I successfully upgraded RB433AH (firmware 2.29) to 5.3 and I don't have any issue with ethernet flapping. Also OVPN client "bad data received" is solved.
