lock-ups with 2.9.x

Mon Oct 31, 2005 4:57 am

Anyone experiencing lock-ups since moving from 2.8.x to 2.9.x?

I have seen station units running 2.8.x crash when a 2.9.x RB532 reboots and 2.9.x clients on Intel just stop working and need a power cycle for no apparent reason.

I would like to know if anyone else is having issues. Many of our units on 2.8 have been up since we upgraded them to 2.8.21. There's no way I'm going to upgrade them again if it means we lose stability.

We've had no problems with 2.9.x and lockups or crashing. Have it running on 2 production routers now with no problems. Both of these are supermicro servers though, not routerboards.

Lockups occuring...

Tue Nov 01, 2005 8:09 pm

We have a RB532 with the daughterboard running 2.9.1 and we are experiencing lockups, and ethernet interfaces that just stop passing traffic. We're running the board right at 23vdc b/c it's at a 24vdc solar site, which is in spec, but I wonder about being on the high side of the spec. I'm going to try and load the latest firmware .6 and see if that reduces our problems.

I am running a RB5xx in one of my remote sites on 2.9.6 and have no issues.

It is connecting back via IPSEC routing.

The router is connected via T1 and hosts a few clients.

The wireless is only enabled on demand so I cant say much on that.
