How to reset router

Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:43 pm

Hallow peeps
Am a newbie and need assistance.I have a problem with my RB411 router,am getting an
IP Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Physical Address: 00-1D-60-D7-42-5B
DHCP Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address: 169.254.163.70
IPv4 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
IPv4 Default Gateway:
IPv4 DNS Server:
IPv4 WINS Server:
NetBIOS over Tcpip Enabled: Yes
Link-local IPv6 Address: fe80::f10f:1830:2dcc:a346%8
IPv6 Default Gateway:
IPv6 DNS Servers: fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1, fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1, fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1
I have tried to reset the router to factory settings and this does not work either.I simply cant log onto the router.
I've gone through all forums,posted everywhere and haven't resolved this issue.Any ideas

Use winbox and physically click on the mack address. This will bypass most ip related, misshapes. If you don't get access that way, go and have a look at netinstall. You will have to connect a serial cabel to RB. If you do get access, open new terminal and enter
system reset-configuration

When i try winbox i get an IP 192.168.88.1 and on connect click i get an error could not connect.
On net install i can only see 2 options,Hard Drive and removable devices both on click nothing happens,on clicking the flashfig i get an IP 169.254.163.71 yet nothing happens.Looks like the device keeps timing out.
Also tried through the Mac address on winbox and its timing out.If i try to restore to factory settings nothing happens either,

to connect to 192.168.88.1 you need your PC to have an address from the same network (ie. not 169.254.163.70 but 192.168.88.2). This is the reason you can't connect. Change the PC IP address to the one I mentioned.
