Ping speed ans bandwidth test

Fri Jul 29, 2011 9:51 am

Hello,
I have 2 MT with 4 ubiquiti antennas between them configured in bridge mode. I would like to test traffic speed. Can you please let me know if Ping test and Bandwidth testgive me the results?

Bandwidth test gives your more precise information about throughput.
Additionally for more precise results it is better to use device connected to each router and send traffic through wireless link.

Using a bandwidth or ping test to the internet also tests the internet connection, which is usually the weak link. If you want to properly test JUST the wireless link, you need either a routerboard or PC on both ends for the testing. You do not want to use the routerboard running the wireless cards for the testing as it puts extra load on them and can skew the results.

If you hook a routerboard up to each end, run Btest and ping.
If you use two PC's, run iperf (optionally use the Jperf front-end) http://sourceforge.net/projects/iperf/
