New set dual polarity antenna doubts. Please suggest.

Wed Sep 07, 2011 6:11 am

I just ordered a new set of dual polarity antennas for a new BTS we are setting;
My setup goes like this:
AP Side >>> Mini PCI F50 Pro + 17 dbi Sector (Single polarity)
Client Side >>> Mini PCI Compex + 30 dbi Grid

Singal was -56/58

New setup goes like this:
AP Side >>> R52Hn + 16dbi Sector (Dual Polarity) As per the vendor tells me
Client Side >>> Mini PCI Compex + 30 dbi Grid

New signal level - 85/90

What has gone wrong please suggest?
I suspect the dual polarity sector. May be it is not 16 dbi but just 8/10 dbi.

Check that you are using both chains for tx as well as both for rx.

YES. I have chain 0 and chain 1 both tx and rx ticked.

Try to verify the sector antenna data.
As a rule of thumb a dual pol antenna needs double size
for the same gain. May be you're at the edge of the
sector? You loose 3db spreading power to 2 polarities.

The client what i am talking about was connected initially with a Grid as it was the only client.
Then we had more clients so we got a single polarity sector to replace the grid.
Then we had a few clients where we had the SXT's and 711-5hn hence inorder to use the "n" we order the dual pol and moreover we r running the dual pol successfully on another base.
All other clients may be on edges but this one we r testing on is very str8 in line with the sector.

I don't think that since the client end is not "n" it should affect. Neways I have not yet put it on 5Ghz A/N. Because if I use that everything goes off completely. So it is only 5Ghz A so far
