Snmp don't work in a minimal xp machine

Fri Sep 23, 2011 3:44 pm

Hi, i have a little problem in a minimal install of windows xp sp3, i add the snmp service and configure it for my system but when i try to smnpwalk with the dude server the machine doesn't answer and go in timeout.
This machine is a minimal install of windows xp and maybe not every windows component that the snmp protocol use are installed.
Someone can tell me all the component that the snmp protocol use? (like tcp , snmp...etc) so that i can't try to enable it on the machine...
Thanks

You should be able to "install" snmp over by removing it and re-adding it.
Ctrl Panel, Add or Remove programs, add/remove windows components, Management and Monitoring tools, Un-check SNMP, then put it back...
That might fix it.

you need to configure snmp in services under computer management. You need to give it a community and start it.
