Windows 7 Premium MAC-telnet issue (Solved)

Fri Oct 21, 2011 7:21 pm

Hi dude..

recent i just bought a Dell N4050 laptop.
it's running on the Windows 7 Premium 64bit.
but i found that, even i disable all the firewall, i not able to use the winbox work as what windows XP done.

i not able to scan the Routerboard MAC address which direct connect to my laptop but via ip there is no issue.

this is the new laptop and i try with the winbox when i first turn on my new laptop.
below is my interface detail, what i can do for it?

Dell Wireless 1701 802.11b/g/n
94-39-E5-D7-EF-B3

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
18-03-73-94-C8-86

appreciate it and thanks.

Dear Mikrotik...

Is the winbox is not compatible with the 64bit OS?

No, Winbox works well on all our 64Bit systems, we have many such computers here at MikroTik. Try to right-click and choose "run as administrator". If it works then, you have a firewall problem. Another thing - make sure you have only one Interface active in Windows. If you have both the Wireless and the LAN cards enabled in Windows, this causes problems too.

Have you got any vmware or virtualbox software installed? We have had similar issues and traced them to the virtual interfaces created by v software, disabling them cured the problem.

are you sure that the device is reachable, and the neighbor discovery is enabled on the port you are using?

I've got several PCs.

Those with Windows7-Prof won't do mac-discover in Winbox.
These with WinXP will do mac-discover.

Disabling all networking devices except the one connected to the routerboard didn't help at all.

Hi dude..

i have done something, then the winbox scan is working now and i also can do login via winbox by the MAC address, here is the thing i have done, but i not sure, which one make it work... ^_^

1) Goto> Computer (Right Click) > Manage > Services and Application > Services
- Windows Firewall > Start up Type: disable.
* I disable it as i am using 360 as my firewall, antivirus, etc... protection.

2) Goto > Start > in search > firewall > Windows firewall and Advance security > delete all the inbound and outbound rules.

3) Uninstall the default McAffee internet security/ antivirus software as it will cause the problem as well.

4) Restart > done.
