DHCP option 82 - actual status in 2011

Hi

I am planning to set up a new network involving cisco network switches capable of doing ip source-guard, dhcp snooping and relaying dhcp requests to an external dhcpd.
Whilst looking for information about DHCP option 82 and RouterOS I found a lot of outdated information, stating it was or wasn't supported.

So therefore this thread: will I be able to use RouterOS to relay dhcp requests from clients, together with the remote ID and circuit ID to of the Cisco switch to RouterOS, so each client has their unique DHCP acquired ip address depending on the switchport they are on?

Kind regards

sloth

The switch inserts option 82. The router has nothing to do with it, it takes the broadcast it receives from the switch with option 82 already in it and unicasts it against the DHCP server when performing relay. It should work. Can't say I've tried it, mind.

I know nothing about ROS Option82 relaying, but it works fine with ROS DHCP Server + RADIUS. we use it for 3 years and 3 monthes already (they added RADIUS support in test-v3.11 for me, at 08/08/2008 - symbolic date, isn't it? :D )
