Sprint 598 Modem Init Help

Sun Nov 20, 2011 7:53 am

Sure could use some help with the proper settings for the PPP client in using a Sprint U598 modem. The modem init string fails on AT+CGDCONT as it is not a supported command. I can't seem to figure out the proper string to get past modem init.

:D I answered my own question tonight. The 598U is a Sprint EVDO modem. In referencing all the different documentation and posts led me to believe that a APN name was needed. There is no APN required on the Sprint EVDO network. By leaving the APN field blank on the "General" PPP Interface tab, will stop ROS from executing the "AT+CGDCONT=1" command which this modem does not support.

The settings used to support the 598U modem on my 750G test router where;
Port=USB1, Data and Info Channels=0, Phone=#777, Dial Command=ATDT, Dial On Demand=un-checked. All other fields at default.

Hope this helps someone else.

Leave the init blank, or try
modem-init="ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0"

I can't make Sprint 598 3G usb data card to work when 411U boots up. It will only work when I disconnect and reconnect and than it recognize my usb device but I can't
make this card to work in cold boot. I have increase my boot-delay time to 9s but no difference. Appreciate any support. Thanks
