Slow connection with good configuration?

Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:27 pm

Hi Mikrotikers,

I´m new to mikrotik I´ve been using ubnt for a while now.
But I was looking for a kick-ass fast router so I decided to buy the RouterBoard 1100AH.

I´ve got a 50mbit/s connection and it´s prefect, no problems.
I use a Hiltrontechnologies gateway so that is where the internet comes in.
From that gateway I´ve got a wireless transparante bridge 2 times (1 for backup) at a speed of 90mbit/s
The gateway has a DHCP server.

I´ve configured the routerboard 1100ah, DHCP client 2x (only 1 is doing something because the other takes over if 1 breaks.. you never know. I don´t need it to be acting as a load balancer/bonding since the wireless link is already 40mb/s faster than the internets max.)
Simple dhcp server with it´s pool and a masquerade.

Now...
Sometimes the connection is acting strange... It loads 50% fast as light of a page and the rest doesn´t load or really slow...
I´ve had this serveral times on serveral Pc´s.
I´ve tried http://www.pingtest.net straight A/B results.
Packet loss 0% ping 38ms jitter 9ms.

Before I used the routerboard 1100ah I wasn´t having these problems.
I hope someone has an idea, the current firmware version I use is 5.8.

Thanks alot and kind regards,
Meoma

hi.
you must set distance for your default gateway.
/ip route add gateway=192.168.95.1 distance=1
/ip route add gateway=192.168.51.1 distance=2
with this config, your route policy work good, and any time just one gateway do work.and your router do work good.
