RB493G Crash - Kernel Panic

Mon Jan 16, 2012 3:51 pm

Hi,

I've had a RB 493G for about a year now and this is the third time this has happened. For no apparent reason after running for ~3 months the RB dies and never comes back. connecting a console i see:

RouterBOOT booter 2.38

RouterBoard 493G

CPU frequency: 680 MHz
Memory size: 256 MB

Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup..
loading kernel from nand... OK
setting up elf image... OK
jumping to kernel code
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

I've updated the ROS and firmware in the past in hopes this would fix the problems however it has just happened again. The RB is fairly simple it is just the board with 1x R52Hn card in it.

Fixing it via netinstall is the process i usually take to fix this but i was wondering if while in it's broken state i can extrat any information on the reason it has crashed and provide it to mikrotik ?

We are seeing the same bad block problem. If you have any additional details, please add to http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61321
