RB751U-2HnD Wireless Issues

Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:13 pm

I got 2 brand new RB751U-2HnD, i try to build a wireless link between them in a 2 rooms distance.

i tried every single configuration you can imagine, everything. i work with mikrotik for about 2 years with nice achivements in long range (20km, 30km) links working on 5ghz (100Mbps Full duplex links)

But with this little guys in 2,4 i just can't.

I tried with 1 chain, 2 chains, N, G, 20Mhz, 40Mhz, nstreme, nv2, 802.11, superchannel frequencies, everything.

Signals are excelent (-40,-45) but CCQ just suck!

Does anybody knows what configuration i can use, or got some experience with this models?

Thank you very much.

I am having the same problem and I've just about given up. I've been using jperf 2 to run traffic through the router and it tops out at 30 Mbps. I can easily get twice that with any old stock n router under the exact same circumstances. I would love it if someone could post a configuration that's giving them great performance.

I have exactly the same issue. Since this is a SOHO device I would like to see competitive results with other even cheaper SOHO wireless routers. My single thread TCP maximum was about 30Mbit, while multi thread was topped on ~50Mbps. I have two very low end wireless routers (TP-link and Edimax) and with both of them I can reach about 90Mbps on single thread! That's huge difference. Ok MikroTik has bunch of other features which compensates part of his (non) performance, but I wouldn't accept anything worse than ~75Mbps on single thread.

I'm quite sure this device is capable of reaching that performance, but I don't know how. So my goal is to reach this performance with RB751U/G by connecting to it with simple 802.11n laptops. Other low end devices shows this is nothing impossible. So let's go find it out how can we achieve that.

Cross linking two threads about same issue. http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... 2&p=301149
Problem still persist and quick resolution would be appreciated from MikroTik.

I have a theory about the problem: both of the 751U that I've worked with had horrible wireless performance and both ended up being frozen with all LEDs blinking. There are multiple threads about this problem and according to Mikrotik it only affected one of the early production batches.

This theory may be correct since my device came with ROS 5.6 which was available at the time of RB751U announcement and generates autosupport.rif files from time to time.... It's quite new device (few days) so I can't confirm blinking LEDs since I didn't paid attention to that.

It's hard to miss the blinking LEDs since it also seems to temporarily brick the device :-(

The first one locked up after a few hours. Changing AC Adapters (and using one that could deliver more amps) seemed to bring it back to life. The second one locked up after a few days.
