Basically, the newer, faster cards have built in usb rather than built in serial ports so think of it as a usb modem rather than a serial modem. Does MikroTik actually show a usb device present in the ppp configuration? Even though it uses usb rather than the old fashioned but throughput limited serial port, it still takes AT commands. I will be facing a similar situation when I upgrade my UMTS card with built in serial to a UMTS HSDPA card which will use built in serial which in understandable considering the close to 2mbs throughput it is capable of. At least these cards don't require an AT command to turn on the darn radio itself like my Sony/Ericsson EDGE card. It's a two step process to get one of these dialed in because it takes many seconds to register on the network before you can dial in to the ppp connection but that's a whole different subject in itself. Let us know if you even see a usb device in the ppp setup under the modem menu.

Hi

No, I do not see the device under ppp
I do see it under usb, but not as a modem.
The vendor and product id are correct to the device.
I did not mentioned that the modem is a "Kyocera kpc650"
Witch works fine on a Linux box with the 5220 driver.

Thanks a lot for the replay
