problem with nv2

Fri Mar 23, 2012 3:22 pm

hi everybody
gud evening,i am just trying to configure point to point link with 7115hn ros 5.6 but link is not stable
there is too latency when client starts download and upload. so we posponed this setup.

i think there is some setting issue
at ap side
mode= bridge
band =802.11N(only)
frequency 5180
wireless porotocol =nv2
bridge1= ether1(bridged)
= wlan1(bridged)

at client side
mode= station bridge
band=802.11N(only)
frequency 5180
wireless porotcol =any
bridge1=ehter1
=wlan1

and we have tried this pc-to router711 - 711router-pc bandwidth test and it goes to 15mbps both side tx/rx

but client are not getting the atleast browsing speed

can any one tell me in this regard

thanks and best regards from

Post terminal output to /interface wireless export hide-sensitive

Upgrade to 5.14 as well.

Check for clean channel using scan and freq usage.

problem with nv2

Sat Mar 24, 2012 5:29 pm

I don't see anything wrong with your setup that would cause really bad issues. Make sure to use NV2 security. Use rate-selection=advanced.

What are your ccq readings? what are the signal strengths?

thanks for your input dear :)
ya i have configured wpa2psk security on nv2 tab of wireless card.

and overall ccq on ap side is 101%
i am posting an image

and i want to know what rate selected on advanced tab because i can't play with configuration (production network ) due to some reason

can you tell me the data reated will be there ??????

after all thanks for your kindfull help :)

one more thing >>>

<1>when i check bandwidth test
cpu load goes up to 100%
tcp 10Mbps load

<2> how to enable security one both side

<3> data rates are advanced both side 36, 48, 54 <supported rate A/G > and < basic rate A/G>

<4> sometimes packet loss is 8% and some times 20%
thanks :)

ONE IMPORTANT THING , IS THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOING GUD BUT NOW I AM FACING A BIG PROBLEM , NOW WHEN nv2 is select on ap side (bridge) then client (in station bridge ) can not connect to the ap and when i select 802.11 at ap side client goes connected to that ap

any one has any idea what's happening to that both 7115hn routerboard

any comment will be highy appriciated

1> bandwidth test with TCP is CPU intensive. Use a separate device to generate traffic.

2>
Create identical wireless security profiles on both sides
Use same NV2 key in NV2 setup on both sides
NV2 *does* *not* use wireless security profile!

3>
Date rate selection Advanced allows both radios to select faster negotiations on both sides by skipping some steps in normal rate negotiation which are not important.
It does not change the rates actually used. It's faster negotiations only. Rate Default or Configured changes rates that can be used.

AP wireless protocol should be NV2.
Station wireless protocol should be ANY.
Verify wireless security profiles are identical, and selected for use on both sides.
NV2 pre-shared key must be the same for NV2 to connect.

.
I have had problems with using "Any" protocol selection much better to use "NV2 nstreme 802.11"

hey thanks friend
i did all these things and every thing works fine but
when i select ht guard interval to long then link goes disappear.
and tx/rx ccq is 100/99% and overall ccq is freez at 59%

i don't think this is ok :/

Looks alright at first glance.

Could you tell more about the actual symptoms you are seeing? How exactly are you performing a test to identify the issue?

You say latency is too high. How high? And how are you testing?

i have maintainoed that in earlier post.
continously i was checking the perfomance of nv2.first day every thing was good but after 5 to 6 hours ping reply from ap was breaking even client was connected to the ap . at client wirless interdace (connected to ess). breakage is 4 to 5 times ....
client tx strength become -70 to -80 (i have also changed the free frequency ) but same result.

one of our mikrotik supplier told me to configure in this way ,,so i changed the configuration like this

<<<<<<<<<<<<ap side >>>>>>>>>>>
mode >bridge
band> 5ghz only N
freq>5300
wirless protocol >nv2
wds >wds1>dynamic>bridge1

<<<<<<<<<client>>>>>>>>>
mode -station wds
band>5ghz only N
freq-5300
wirless protocol - any
wds dynamic > bridge1

i read that nv2 don't work with wds (is this correct ).

there is any problem in router ros 5.6

5.9 had improvements in NV2 signal to noise level
5.11 had improvements in disconnect issue.

Why are you still at 5.6?

NV2 does work with WDS fine.
