2 weeks experience...

Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:15 am

This first 2 weeks of Mikrotik were really nice...

- Account from this forum deleted, plus all post ?!?!?!?!?!?!
- Mikrotik PPPoe doesn't work, more than 10 disconnection a day
- Installed openwrt on this hardware, but a really alpha beta stage...
- Netinstall don't work to return to the "perfect" RouterOS
- Reseller do not accept router back (nice)

For all future buyers, i leave here my advice... There all loads of routers out there, that really work...

Mikrotik PPPoe doesn't work, more than 10 disconnection a day
Below is quotation from your post on OpenWRT forum:
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php ... 31#p164031
Seems openWRT have problems with pppoe connections... guess i need to return to the crappy RouterOS, it had poor performance, but it worked...
Accroding to logs provided by you on OpenWRT forum:
Apr 10 18:49:43 MikroTik daemon.warn pppd[11145]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets
Apr 10 18:49:43 MikroTik daemon.err pppd[11145]: Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery
It shows that during PPPoE Discovery process PADI packet was send, but there is no response from DSL-AC/BRAS (PADO packet was not received).

Hope that helps,

ROS is one of the most stable platforms, and is the most stable and useful platform of its kind for the money.

The Problem you have with routeros... is Unfortunately...you!

PPPoe works on RouterOS... every time it hangs, redial... but it hangs, it hangs a lot...

Better performance with a chinese 5€ router than with 751g...

You have not provided us with any useful information, you are simply complaining. Your logs show that RouterOS didn't receive proper response from the other end, so timed out. Either your configuration is broken, or other end is not following standards.

Nice to know that my problems with pppoe connection are related to me and not to the device... nice support!

No need to solve problems with this device... its already turn off and on its box...

I have a 5€ chinese router doing his job without any pppoe problems... strange isn't it?

I just want my money back... simple as that!

Good luck with your chinese router.

We have a standard pppoe server with mikrotik, installed with different profiles in minutes.

300 clients with

Other mikrotiks
Buffalo whr54 with dd-wrt v24sp1
Osbridge 5gxi
10 different Cablerouters (netgear, digitus, surecom)

and all working perfect with pppoe. Never seen a such other solution like mikrotik. I'm loving it :D

Mikrotik is not a children's toy...after 5 years of using I barely know how to make use of it, maybe 30%. I always must read the "manual".
