Hello All,

I have been using the Mikrotik as the PPPoE access concentrator for about 3 years now without any issues.

Primarily all these users were using wireless bridges and cable connectivity.

I also have several Multi Tenant Apartments connected via Wireless CPE's like EtherAnt-II, these are currently connecting via HOTSPOT - Mikrotik.

I want to convert these to use PPPoE for variuos reasons, however theres one issue which i need help on.

These CPE's are only capable of sending a single MAC address for all users that connect being this CPE, its fine if only 1 user is using the CPE exclusively, however if multiple users are sharing the CPE, the mikrotik only allows 1 user at a time to connect to the PPPoE concentrator. This is happening because all the users come iwth the same MAC Address and Mikrotik disconnects the session of the user logged earlier with the same MAC to establish the new users session.

Is it possible to configure MIKROTIk to allow multiple user sessions comming with the same MAC Address ??

Havent seen any such feature. The solution to your problem depends heavily on the CPE equipment, if it does some kind of NAT for PPPoE and it's not a very common feature. How else would the CPE equipment figure out to whom to send that PPPoE packet in return?

I had this problem with Netgear ME101 bridges, one PPPoE tunnel for one user could be made and remade but then no other users could connect until the unit was rebooted....

I would suggest you get new bridges or perhaps use PPtP

i guess you are confusing network layers here. if you are using a transparent bridge aka media converter, a point-to-point link is created over the media. also an underlying ethernet connection is made between access concentrator and pppoe-client. as no ethernet device must have more than one MAC i would guess your problem can not be solved without using a router.

perhaps it helps to connect a cheap (pppoe-capable) router between your wireless bridge and the customers. here these devices, often called "dsl-router", start at around 30 eur.

If I understand you correctly the answer is yes. You need to set ppoe to allow more than one connection. Under ppp profile, set only-one=no. Make sure that any user you add uses this profile. That should allow multiple logins to the pppoe concentrator to allow multiple logins per mac address.

I forgot to add that all users behind your cpe must use the same username and password.

i see. there are some ethernet-wireless converters working this way.
but i think its a problem which should be solved on the client side.
if more than one clients, why not simply using a router or wireless bridge if you provided complete connectivity and want everyone to connect by pppoe. or having your customer buying her own router.

im also caught in same situation,
I required to configure the Multiple PPOE connections on single wan link & Deliver the DHCP ip delivery to multiple users via different pools.
I tried but even after i mark packet of source ip pool, i cant use more than one user at a same time , but at different times it is working fine.
i tried with add multiple vlan to wan interface i cant dial ppoe.
kindly guide to create multi ppoe connection on one interface at same time...

I successfully use one CPE (Mikrotik SXT Lite 5) and put it in station-bridge mode then add a switch and distribute the link further to as many customer with different user id as the total cpe bandwidth supports without any issue.my pppoe nas is also Mikrotik 1100 AHX2.and my ppoe profile is set to allow one session per host.

that will definitely work, becuase for different mac address , but we are looking to add ppoe profile in router itself & deliver dhcp to clients of different ranges
