Bypass hotspot for local addresses

Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:02 pm

Hi!

I use hotspot to authenticate users and also to limit the traffic in my network. The main goal here is to avoid my internet connection to be overused, so i set a 1MB/s download limit for each user.

My local servers addresses are in the Walled Garden IP list.

The problem is that hotspot is limiting the traffic in the local addresses also, what is making my internal network unusable, because there are some applications which use a high volume traffic, and they are also being limited to 1MB/s.

Another problem is walled garden traffic is also being accounted by hotspot, what gives me numbers that don´t actually shows my real internet link usage.

Is there a way to bypass hotspot completelly for some dst addresses, or is there a better way to solve this problem, but still using hotspot?

Regards,

Fabiano

The only work around that i see that can be used is implementing a metarouter to create a nat inside for the network and a nat outside for the "hotspot" network, and applying a hellish set of firewall rules...

Its very tricky and might not work in your case :?
