Hi
I am having an issue: I cannot make the PPPOE work on the RB1100 AH.
If the PPPOE is done by the modem I do not have any issues., and it is working correctly.
I am using 5.19 with 2.39 firmware.

If I set the modem in bridge mode it is alternating between authenticating and disconnected

The debug info are as follows:

If the PPPOE is done by the modem I do not have any issues., and it is working correctly.
I am using 5.19 with 2.39 firmware.
Any clue of what the issue might be?
Thanks
Stefano

Hello.
I'm no expert in this and I'm not using 1100 but RB750G so maybe it's not similar but here's how I did it.
In WinBox I click on Interfaces and add new PPPoE client interface. Name of the interface doesn't really matter, mine came up with pppoe-out1 and I left it at that. On the first tab I only selected the interface I wanted PPPoE to use, my case it's ether1-gateway. On the second tab, Dial Out, I put in the User, Password, left the profile on default. Checked the Dial on Demand box and Use Peer DNS and left the Allow boxes checked. If this is what you did then I don't think can be of more help. You might want to look at the config in the modem/router. I'm using ADSL router and I just bridge it so it isn't a router anymore but a modem. I put a private address on the external interface on the Mikrotik and also on the ADSL router, just to make them able to talk together. F.ex. on ether1-gateway I'd put 192.168.10.2/24 and on the ADSL router (which is in bridged mode) I put 192.168.10.1/24 on the inner interface. You can use a smaller subnet, I didn't bother. ;)
This way the MikroTik knows where to connect to. This works on RB750G.
Hope this helps. Either way, please let me/us know, it is always good to know what works and what not.

I would verify all settings are identical from your previous PPPoE session in the modem. I'm guessing something is set in the Mikrotik that wasn't in the modem.

I don't see anything definitive, but two things stand out

1) MTU - The BRAS is wanting to negotiate to 1492 and your PPPoE client is asking for 1480
2) You are receiving PADO packets from two different BRAS servers...do you have a PPPoE server running in a Mikrotik somewhere?

Hi Burkni and IPANetEngineer
Thanks for the replies.
I have set the pppoe on the Mikotik as Burkni suggested, with the only difference being the "dial on demand". I have tried with that option ticked too. On the modem I only had to set VPI and VCI, as it is a basic consumer modem. When it was doing the pppoa I had to set username and password along with VPI and VCI, but no further configs.

IPANetEngineer, I have tried with 1492 as MTU too, no joy.
The Mikrotik is receiving two PADO packets, one from the carriers's LAC and one from ours in the datacentre.

Could it be that the problem is caused by this?
00:12:54 pppoe,debug ether2: received PADO with unknown host-uniq, dropping

I have found this post
http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46384
where some users are having the same issue..
Thanks
