Dear friends,
I have a problem that I would like to share with you. First, as you know when there is a RouterOS problem in Mikrotik boards we can use Netinstall for reinstalling RouterOS and the License is kept. I have a x86 board with license and RouterOS is corrupted (I can not access the board via any way) so if I use Netinstall I think the license will be lost because of the format. Is there any way to format the flash memory of the x86 board and use the same license? Thanks for your answers and suggestions :D .

Hi,

Most x86 platforms will have a console or similar access method so I'd hope you can use one of those to see what's going on.

In regards the license key - yes, its stored on the hdd of the device and linked to the drive serial number amongst other things. If the actual device is corrupt (MBR/physical disk/bad sectors) then drop a mail on support@mikrotik.com - they are typically very understanding and if you provide sufficient proof I reckon they would issue you a replacement license [but hey - I don't work for them so the best you can do is try ;-) ]
