ap bridge, bridge, station, station bridge or station WDS ?

Fri Oct 12, 2012 3:55 pm

Hi,
I have a PtP coming down to the office with 2 Ubnt grids. ( file attached).

On the office an AP OMnitik , Bulding 1. Building 2 is connected with a CPE to AP Office.
I must give connection to building 4,which is much lower than building 3 that shades.
My question is :
Do I need to put an Omnitik on build 3 to get to bullding 4?
If yes, what mode ? (ap bridge, bridge, station, station bridge, station WDS , wds slave .etc...)?

Distance Build 1 to build 3 is 100meters.

thank you

AP Bridge with WDS set to dynamic will allow an AP to repeat as long as the SSID and frequency match. Here are some screenshots from my home router that is setup to repeat.

My computers and phones don't have any trouble jumping from one to the other. I've never tried doing much as I hop though if you need to never ever loose the connection even for a real short time then WDS won't meet you expectations. If your looking for something easy that wirks for normal use then its great. I have never noticed when any of my devices hop. I don't use ap lists or any other such feature

AP Bridge with WDS set to dynamic will allow an AP to repeat as long as the SSID and frequency match...
For maximum throughput, two SXTs back-to-back (on different channels, bridged via Ethernet) should give you at least double the performance of an OmniTik set up as a repeater. (Each link can Tx simultaneously, plus the directional antennae are less susceptible to noise than an omni.)
