How many here are using these antennas?
"Jirous JRC-24 EXTREME MIMO 24dBi 5GHz Dual Polarity Parabolic Antenna"
I just installed two as a replacement for the powerbridgem5 and they did improve the connection.

What is distance? What routerboard and what ROS version? Do you use NV2 or Nstream?
What type and long pigtails?

Hi,

We've used these Jirous units for our nstreme dual backhaul links and they work fine. Spec at each side of the link (identical) -

Enclosure - die cast aluminum, IP65 rated;
Board - RB433;
Radios - R5H;
RoS - 3.30 (we have not bothered to upgrade the RoS as this seems to work fine);
Pigtails - Laird, N to MMCX, 18cm;
Cable - LM400, n-type, 1m;
Distance - 7km urban environment with quite a bit of interference;
LOS - visually clear but some of the Fresnel zone obstructed by buildings;
Speed - varies from 24Mbps to 30Mbps full duplex (UDP).

We are planning to move to NV2 on a 12km test link using either the Jirous 24 or 29inch model.
Shall update when we get this up and running. Unfortunately, NV2 is giving us quite some problems, not just in PTMP so we are going to give this the last shot.

Rgds,
Mark.

Thanks for the info siscom.

I'm only using MT for the routers in my network. I have been using ubnt for the wireless side. I'm hoping to here good things from MT users about their PTMP mimo networks before I think about switching back to MT wireless.

I think the question you should direct to the UBNT forum.
Nobody here will help you with UBNT

Yes I use it with rockets, great antennas. Much better than powerbridge.

Thanks for the reply. And thanks for an answer that's not a question.

We are running them on both nstreme dual and nv2 ptp.

distance from 3km to 21km. work great.

We have also start using the smaller 30cm antenna for shorter distances. where we can push the link to about 90/90mbit TCP traffic.

Do you have working dual nstreme on N cards? which cards, what ros version?

90/90 on r5h? turbo mode? dual-nstreme or with nv2. Which hardware(boards on both sites?).
Thanks...

I use dual nstreme on r52, now with traffic 30mbit/s, I need to get more from that, what is the max, possible on dual nstreme without turbo mode?

Ubnt dish is great. But you can't always use a dish of that size. Thats why I had to use the powerbridge in the past, but now that the price is a little better on these tiny dishes I can use them.

Yes often the size matters...

I keep hearing from various sources that these Jirous antennas are indeed very good, and they sure seem to be.
But we have few links with JRC-24 DuplEX and RB711GA-5HnD's and unfortunately I cannot brag with good results. Both ends of the link are identical, radios are in separate aluminium enclosures. They're connected using 2m long N-Male/N-Male pre-made outdoor pigtails.. Signal strengths and CCQ are not what I would expect at given distance and equipment used.. Does anyone have similar setup and can share their results and insights?

what is the distance? DuplEX is good for Dual nstreme, for nv2 is enough jirous 24 extreme mimo.

Distance is 2 to 5km. No obstacles in the way, Fresnel zone is clear enough. I also see that Rx of Chain0 is very inconsistent and peaks to -80 on AP side. That is not the normal behavior me think.. :( I shall try to replace pigtails with shorter ones made of LMR400 cable.. If that won't help, RB's going to be replaced next.. Links of such setup should be rock solid, but in my particular case, they aren't..

I have +20 links with jrc24extreme and duplex versions and they are awsome.
Ex.: 12km link 10dBm tx-power i get -72dBm signal.

Looks like you have a damaged pigtail or radio card or cable. To debug these links i use a groove pluged directly to the antenna.

That is why we gather in this forum! :) Wonderful idea, I'll try it out as soon as possible.

yes there is no way to be signal like that...if you have clear LOS. So the groove is best way to test it....we use mostly jirous antennas...till now no problem(knock, knock:D)

What is the relation to the topic ? You have to set both sides in the same way...
