Ok I am new to this fourm, at least I am a new poster here. My question is this. I am a mostly UBNT network but am not entirely satisfied with their products. Especially the 900 mhz equipment. I am looking to set up a new AP at a new location and am thinking about going with Mikrotik. It will be a small network with not a lot of customer potential so I am thinking it would be a good place to try Mikrotik. Several of the new clients are marginal or non LOS so I would like to use a 900 mhz AP. I use Mikrotik routers but not any of the wireless equipment. If I read specs right would a RB 433 work for AP and RB411 for CPE? Another question is UBNT XR9 or Xagyl XC900M for the radio. Thanks for any help. Also could anyone tell me what kind of range they are getting our of the 900 mhz with these configurations? I have found that with the UBNT 900 mhz it is not much better on Non LOS than 2.4.

900mhz should be a last resort, Ive used it for links upto 7km non line of site, but the frequency is noisy so there a high jitter rate, and if the bandwidth is limited like it is in New Zealand you can only use a 5mhz channel and it limits it to about 7mbs max in the best condition's with a xr9 point to point. Ive found the 8dbi yagi works better than a omni and the sectors out there at the moment, but for point to multipoint the customers would have to be close, ive built my APs with the RB411AH in a steel box because other 2.4ghz cards or equipment close by can interfere with them and I just use the RB411s for the cpes

I am still looking for a way to cover like the LTE network does but using non-licensed frequencies.

I'm sorry, im not a radio guy, but someone can advise me about what technology can be used for a project like placing the 3G modems but using unlicensed band?

if 900mhz is not so good for non LOS is there another technology better for a scenario with an AP and some clients? it seems LoRa WAN is 56kbps maximum

It is not possible to build a sparse network of wireless access points offering (more or less) continous coverage with good performance operating on non-licensed bands ... probability for some uncontrolled (and uncontrollable) interference is just too high.
Point-to-point links are different story as one can avoid most of interference by using narrow-beam directional antennae. But PtP links don't work in a non-LOS environment.

For dense network of APs it's better to use slightly hihher frequencies which usually offer larger bandwidth for better throughput.
