clarification about license is needed

Thu Nov 01, 2012 1:55 pm

Hello.

I read http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:License but not found answer. Can I move hdd with RouterOS (x86) to another hardware ? If the performance is not enough now or mainboard is damaged, for example.

Regards, Sergey.

Yes, the license is locked to the hard drive. Just don't format it.

What in case of a hard disk crash? And are NIC cards bind to routerOS?

License is related to hdd only. If it crashes you are lost unless you convince the mikrotik support to issue another license to you for free. There is no right for it but they may do a favour to you. So you cannot expect that. These are the conditions you knew before buying a license...

I do not know how you read the manual, but it is clearly stated here that license is bound to hard drive and what are your options if you loose the license
