My need is 2 x 70AH batteries, which can be charged with Solar Panel & Electricity or either.
1. I want to control or view the battery status remotely.
2. There should be a charge controller so batteries do not blow up.
3. SMS/Mail alerts at various battery levels.
4. Output filter for multiple Routerboard.

Someone with a do it yourself kind of solution/advice please.

You could hook up the USB to a mikrotik to get all the stats off it.

Online UPS is priced very high But even I am pondering for the same. Looking for a cost effective method and not all sites are on heavy load. Many remote sites need a maximum of 100 Watts

Not using Solar at present but recently I used a SMPS float battery charger 24V 10A attached to 2 X 113AH deep cycle batteries, which works very good, I am attaching a current meter to monitor load, also have a GSM module to send alert text that "power outage" (AC OFF) has occurred, then it will be simple calculation using Ohm's law as regards how long the batteries have till shutdown and if I don't get text saying "power restored" then it's a drive to swap batteries but this site has reliable AC so this should be a very rare event, I also use a 1U 16way POE panel which has PTC fuses on each output which will trip on high load such as dc short and does not effect other outputs and will reset after short or high load is removed..

if you using the offline ups, you should be careful, make sure the charge can support min 5A for you battery.
we experience with offline ups link with 2 x 80AH battery, for <6 month it's ok, but after that...

end up, we change all to online ups even the cost is triple up but it's worth for it.

I think Mikrotik should have its routerboards like 1100 & further series which can be powered up with leads straight from the battery. Rest everything built inside the Mikrotik power supply. a new idea ... but i guess batteries are standard all over the globe. mikrotik is same all around the globe but power supplies and their availability varies/differs every where.

A monitor interface is a good idea but I would rather monitor AP sectors and check if they are still up and if not run a script to enable say Virtual AP on another AP for the CPE's to lock into till faulty AP is back?
