I always like to use latest software. A lot of ppl are experiencing problems updateing their routers without loosing configs. This is bad. MT Team: keep up the good work... fix those problems, add those features...

You will no loose any configs... only if you upgrade from 2.8.X to 2.9.X you have to check some configs, export them, and then put it again on MT :)...

You dont tell what version do you use... 2.7.x ?

I just cannot answer the poll easily...

Mostly current 2.9 versions of course, but there are 2.8.28, and I even stumbled over a running 2.5.x some weeks ago ;-)

Best regards,

I use 2.8 exclusively,,once a router is set into production it makes little sense to update for the sake of updating--
I will update when the licensure is get close to expiring to get the most recent P2P protocols.
That said, there are times to update in order to get new features.

I am however, ready to play around with 2.9 as it seems most of the bugs are being addresssed...

FWIW, Hugh

I used 2.8.28, but after reading replyes about 2.9.12 i installed it on all routers.....works great...bandwich test on one link from ap to client router show 56.4 mbps (protocol tcp, direction send).Nstreme enabled, frame policy dynamic size, 2.4g-turbo, about 3 km).On 2.8.28 with same config bandwich was 32 mbps, but without nstreme.

My home unit is now 2.9.13.

In our network there are a few dozen different versions, I would love to standardise, but that will be a major task. With new versions coming out as often as they do, I don't think it would be possable to complete an upgrade, before the next version (or 2) came out.

We did manage to get rid of 2.7.x completely, but we still have some 2.8 betas floating around.

Why worry about support if all works :D

Of course, there are many new features in latest versions, but they are not critical for my network, so... MT should be proud if older versions are so stable and can work for years without patching and upgrading.

Is there any idea to upgrade from 2.8.26 to 2.9.13?

Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:52 pm

I use MT to split internet into my LAN. My lan consist of 4 computers connected by UTP, and one connected with wireless (Atheros Sparklan). My connection to internet is realised also by air (Atheros 5211). I have a small www, ftp, mail, mrtg server in my lan. I use forwarding, dhcp, queueing, scripting - rather basic functions. Could You help me with decision - is there any idea to upgrade from 2.8.26 to the newest version?
Thanks in advance.

FYI--upgraded one of my test units (transparent bridge configuration)to 2.9.13 from 2.8.28 without a hitch--
MANGLE and QUEUE TREE not working as documented by MT,, but to my surprise: Simple queues, custom queue types and Firewall chains all working.
