Critical bug / Is User Manager recommended for WISP use?

Wed Jan 02, 2013 10:52 am

Hi

I have been using user manager for a few years.
Upgrading versions as they become stable.

One thing that has hunted our PPPoE/Radius/User Manager setup is that suddenly it stops authenticating clients.
In log it says "PPPoE connection from was already active - closing previous one".
An then in PPP sessions pppoe-0 appears, in stead of customer name, and it just drops.
It just gets worse from there and more and more clients dropping.

Usually solution is taking down some APs (so that clients can`t send their PPPoE requests), wait for a while and pull up one and one AP.

Seems like some build up with sessions or something?

Problem seems to come if a customer router goes "mad" and sends a lot of PPPoE requests.
And also if I disable some customers profiles, and these routers "hammers" the router with login requests.

Anybody else also see these issues?
Is it fixable, what alternatives do I have?

Are you allowing CoA support, I had this problem once.

Select a router from the routers page within the User Manager web interface, you should see a drop down 'radius incoming'.

Thank you for the tip.
I do not have the "Use CoA" checkbox enabled on any router.

When you had the problem, did you enable or disable it?
