Hi
i have the folowing configuration
ether1 "256 kbps uplink speed "
"2048 downlink speed CIR"
and a pppoe server running with default speed to all users 16kbps up and 128 kbps down

my question is that i can make a script or something that can automatically check when there is a free bandwith on the uplink and downlink so it can give pppioe users higher speed and when my downlink is full it can shape them less than 128 kbps untill the bandiwth is free again ?

Did you try to acheve that by using mangle facility and queue trees ? Maybe "equal bandwidth sharing amongst users" from the manual will work for you.

Actually I have the same problem.

THE PROBLEM WILL BE THAT THERE IS NO "LOCAL" INTERFACE TO attache the queue to. There are multiple PPPoE virtual interfaces.

HOW TO PROCED ?? Will have to read the manual some more maybe.... Aaargh I've got a headache already...

You can use the limit-at and max-limit from simple queues...
