Wireless to the garage

Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:03 pm

Hi,

I a have a RB493G + R52Hn in the house for wire, and wireless.
Would like to have a wireless bridge to the garage where I have a small lab..

Would RB711G-5HnD be a good alternative ?
To bridge the internet connection over to the garage switch.
Will it also improve wireless connectivity ? (well new to multiple wireless equipment.. )

Other ideas? or better setups ?
In this case I can not pull a cable, and a wifi bridge might come in useful in the future..

Thanks

Are you using 2GHz or 5GHz in your house? If you are using 2GHz the 711G-5HnD will not work for you as it is 5GHz. If you are using 2GHz you could use the 2011UAS-2HnD or even 751G.

Yes, if using the correct equipment and settings it will improve your wireless coverage.

Ok,

I do use 2 Ghz currently, mostly due to that the mobile phone does not support 5 Ghz.

This will change, and for the current link I now already ordered the card.
Thanks for your information, and it was just 10 min late.
I have to leave and I wanted to get the order in before the weekend.
Still it will be useful for my needs, and the future. The link to the garage will not be used that often
and I can switch frequency when I use it, until I get my next android phone..
I assumed it would do both 2 and 5 Ghz as the R52Hn, but sure now I see the 5 and 2 which probably means dual frequency. Have not learned Mikrotik naming yet.. :)

Thanks for answering.
