Bandwidth Shaping for Wireless Clients

Mon Feb 27, 2006 6:05 am

I have a couple of MT AP's set up around the city. at each AP I have approx. 10-15 wireless clients connected. The wireless clients are businesses who are connected to the Internet via wireless with a router running NAT on their internal network.
I am currently allowing all clients to connect sharing the 11Mbps wireless connection.I would like to limit the amount of bandwidth available for clients connecting wirelessly to about 128Kbps up and down for each client.
I have read up on queues and bandwidth shaping in the manual but am still unsure on whether this applies also to clients connected to the wireless interface.

Also I would also like to know if the speeds can avry for various clients.

Eg. AP-A Client 1 connecting to AP-A has 128Kbps/128Kbps. Client 2 connecting to AP-A has 64Kbps/128Kbps.Client 3 has 512Kbps/128Kbps. etc. etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is possible of course. Depending on the way you are connecting customers (plain wireless, HotSpot, PPPoE, ...), there are several possibilities to achieve your shaping goals.

Search the forums, there are plenty of examples of how to achieve this.
