Maybe Routeros RC6.11 still has problem with Realtek RTL8111

Thu Mar 14, 2013 11:21 am

Working with an Aopen 945GSE+Atom N270 motherboard, there are two Realtek RTL8111D GE lan port on this motherboard, all works fine with RouterOS 5.24, This is the PCI information under RouterOS 5.24:

and this is the RTL8111D information

below is the problem:
1. when I install RC6.11 with netinstall, the system will freeze for a few minutes like crack down . there is no this problem with RouterOS 5.24.
2. After RC6.11 installed, System can boot normally, but I must wait several minuts for the RTL8111D begin to work, and randomly the Atheros AR9380 wireless card can't work(can't see with "/interface print " command). and the same problem after reboot.

Re: Maybe Routeros RC6.11 still has problem with Realtek RTL

I tried 6.0RC13, still has this problem.
It seems the two Realtek rtl8111D on Aopen 945GSE motherboard has no external eeprom chip( can't read eeprom data with pg8168.exe utilitis ), and the Realtek 8111D driver of RouterOS has some problem.
BTW: with RouterOS 5.24, the rtl8111D occasionally works abnormal after system reboot, it seems the driver of rtl8111D is ok, but no data transfer, windows system prompt cord unpluged.

I tried Openwrt, the two Realtek rtl8111D works all fine. the Openwrt use realtek 8169 driver.
this is the RTL8111D information under Openwrt

Re: Maybe Routeros RC6.11 still has problem with Realtek RTL

Now I know what cause this problem. this mainboard's eeprom is empty, the NIC's config is saved in "efuse" of Realtek NIC, But the RouterOS's kernel driver can't work very well with Realtek's efuse of RTL8111. maybe other NIC use efuse have same problem?
