Multiple RB433 deployment questions

Fri Mar 22, 2013 2:49 pm

Hi!
I am putting together a project to add about 45 RB433 antennas into a university campus.
I know how to set up APs so they have the same SSID, WPA2 password, etc but I am wondering if there is some sort of way to automatically change settings on all APs at the same time.
For example if one day I want to change the SSID globally I want to be able to do that on all of them at the same time and not one by one.
Also the issue with the WPA2 password, etc.
Is there a way to do this using a program or something? Or a script that can be run when changes are required? Is there a tool that does this already?

Hope there is one. It would be painfully slow to change each device separate.

Regards,
Teo

Personally I think you'd be better off using RADIUS and not using WPA2. If it's a university you probably already have e-mail accounts or some existing IT infrastructure that could easily be extended to provide a seamless experience.

You might want to go further and have devices registered by MAC address.

Using RADIUS too would allow you to give out a certain periods of free internet. Homecoming. New student visit days. 15 minute trials.

And RADIUS will allow you control bandwidth usage per account.
