RB250GS SNMP DUDE ISSUE

Wed Apr 17, 2013 1:48 pm

I have tried The Dude v3.6 and the v4.0beta3, I have also upgrade the firmware from 1.7 to 1.8, problem is I am unable to get port snmp tx / rx data. The software is working fine with other snmp devices, such as Appple Airport, Kodak Wireless Printer.

From a quick look through the forum, it is a known fault, but no solution. Has anyone been able to resolve this?

First ensure you have your snmp community string right and are using v1. Then try snmp walk. Use the beta version of the dude. If your still having trouble let me know and I'll screenshot my settings for you.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thank u for your reply. Does the version on the dude snmp.profile has to be the same as the trap version on the second figure? And what about the contact info and location are the obligatory??

I have generally have the dude set to SNMP version 2c because I have that set to the default in my copy of The Dude. My reason for using 2c is that I monitor a lot of equipment that only work with 2c. The routers can be queried with either v1 or v2c and probably v3 but I have not tried that.

It doesn't matter what you set the location and contact to, its just a text field for human purposes not for snmp authentication.

Make sure that you have a matching community string. If your still having issues then try torching the router when you attempt the snmp connection and see if you see the requests from The Dude.
