Which Routerboard is suitable for you, It depends on several factors, like number of users, Firewall / Queuing method and network topology. As per your requirement, I am sure even a RB750/G would be enough for you. Every Mirkotik Routerboard and its x86 (PC base) version have Hotspot package included. Various modules/packages are available for separate download and you install them later if you currently dont have installed.

Mikrotik Routerboard have builtin hotspot/pppoe/vpn server that can be used on small/medium or large. Also Mikrotik have builtin Radius Server called USER MANAGER suitable for SOHO. You can user-man for billing purposes along with your hotspot for automatic account expiry , usage reports, package facilitation etc. It is a basic radius server which can fulfill most of the requirements of small networks. With a USB supported RB, you can also use Mikrotik WEB-PROXY to get benefit from its HTTP caching facility :).

There are lot of interesting things you can do with Mikrotik. Just Dive in the Wiki & this forum :)

Dear aacable,
Where I can find the limitation of such boards I mean number of users of any boards that can be handled, the data rate that can be achieved, Do they have some static information of their boards capability, we want to build our customization on these static info.

Thanks a lot

It would be better if you post your requirements here and someone will suggest you RB model as per requirements.

many guys told the performance depends on cpu speed instead of ram memory,
may i know which is powerful ap to run max no. of online clients with high latest & fastest cpu.

Planning a wireless depends more on ur terrain and the bandwidth you are offering, also on the usage pattern of your clients. There is no one who can tell you exact model/make of AP for 50 clients. Although I would suggest you go with a 433AH or 912. Go on adding clients...20,30,..50. So far you get the clients satisfied keep to it. When clients get disturbed, like high latency or they get undesired bandwidth it is time for a new AP. Offload some to another AP or may be another base station.

ya i know it depends on hidden node issue & near n far effect.
but when ever client get high latency. i don't see any big usage in cpu & mostly free ram is 16 mb n more.
when compared to 411 ah , 433 ah is had extra ethernet port & ram. cpu are same as 411 ah.
so there is no performance hike in 433ah when we using it. apart from extra port & ram( usual 40 mb usage only)
is im rite??

so I suggested the 912 since it is cost effective and with a 433ah u can always have more cards and sectors
