Hi, ive used serial-terminal to manage some Cisco switches VIA a router-board in the past, however its been a while. I searched and could not find an answer:

Im able to connect to my cisco switch via RB 433's serial port by setting baud rate to 9600. it works great and i can manage the switch.

however on my CCR-1016 (ros 6rc14) , /system serial-terminal (port serial0) does not give any output. ive tried changing the baud to 9600 (which works on RB433) winbox says this rate is not support and sets it back to AUTO (ive tried other rates, they all give this message).

even when i try Auto Rate when in serial console (by pressing ctrl-a then "R") it tries 38400 then says timeout.

What am i missing on the CCR-1016? why can i not get it to connect to the cisco port or change the baud rate when all works fine on my RB433 (bc i can set its port rate to 9600)

have you checked your serial information ? if you are using windows , you can check it in device manager, and linux via dmesg

There are only routerboards in this scenario, my issue/question is with the serial port of the CCR-1016 (routerboard cloud router).

no windows or PCs (maybe you thought i was trying to connect from my laptop to the RB? thats incorrect, im trying to go from the RouterBoard direct to the cisco console port)

We have the same problem, with a CCR1016 and with a CCR1036.
We use the serial port with an Avocent PDU at 9600 bps, It works good using rb433ah, rb1100, rb493g, rb411ah.
We replace a rb1100ahx2 with a ccr1016, and now would leave both routers, one for operative use, and another to use the serial port.

Searching at wiki for information about serial connection I've just found this:

Note: CCR1016 and CCR1036 built-in Console port supports only 115200 baud rate due to hardware restrictions.

That is the reason. I think that Cisco console port only support 9600,n,8,1
