v5.25 + bonding 50% slower

Sun May 12, 2013 9:56 pm

Hello everyone,

After I updated to version 5.25 from 5.24 I have been experiencing 50% reduction of speed in my RB493G. I use bonding on ports 6+8 for connection to my NAS and after the upgrade the NAS performs 50% less (It seems that although ports get registered as 1000Mb they work as 100Mb). Has anyone else experienced speed problems with 5.25? Also with simple firewall rules cpu usage is unusually high. With v.5.22 I didn’t have these problems…

Thank you in advance!

I had something similar happen recently. The bonded router in my NOC said the ethernet port had successfully negotiated a 100mbps full duplex connection. My switch (8 feet of CAT6 cable) said it also had negotiated a 100mbps full duplex connection. But when I looked at the switch stats it was showing some packet loss. And it showed it had tried different port speed/duplex settings.

What I did in the end was 'lock' both the bonded router and the switch to 100mbps full duplex (took them out of auto-negotiate) and that resolved the issue. It's been fine for a month now.

ROS 5.24 & 5.25 Haven't upgraded the bonded routers to 6.x just yet.... :)
