3rd party mac auth problem behind routeros

Sun Mar 19, 2006 11:48 am

i have a mikrotik routeros with some powerfull mini pci cards i want to use but im having issues with the mac authentication on the sputnik side of things, for example its always showing the mac id of the routeros( routeros box has 1 ethernet and a wireless card) how can the sputnik just auth the mac address's of the clients not the router behind the sputnik ap160

|internet|---|sputnikap160|---|routeros|----|antenna

can anyone put light on this for me?

here is a pic of what my setup can look like the middle one is what i want becuase the routeros is the box with the powerfull wifi card.

If I understand your problem, your Mikrotik device is not a bridge (you're NATing or routing) then your spuntnik will probably only ever see the mac of the ethernet port it's connected to. Is your Mikrotik a ap, ap + hotspot, other? If you need sputnik for your user authentication, then you should setup your AP as a bridge.
