I am in need of five ports of gigabit, wireless N and only have a 50mbit connection I am trying to figure out other than the five extra ethernet ports, why do I want to spend the extra 50 or so for the rb2011, is there any true reason they both have 128mb and 600mhz the only real difference I see is the touch screen, external antennas and 1000mw vs 600mw of transmission power. With that much transmission power make a difference?

Thanks,

Linn

There is one more difference what can explain the Price diff: Level4OS at the RB951 and Level5OS at the RB2011uas.

edit: the RB951 is 1000mW also!

Not sure what is the actual question

Differences

a)License : L4 RB951 and L5 for RB2011uas
b)RB2011 has removable antennas which is handy in a big home or apartment for extra coverage
c)RB2011 has an LCD
d)RB2011 has a SFP cage , removing the use of buying a network switch with SFP Ports or annoying Fiber/Ethernet Converter
e)5 Extra EtherNet Ports for things like NAS's , servers and client endpoints.
f)RB2011 has a MicroUSB Port ; Not really a fan of this , but it's a difference I guess.

I don't understand why I would buy one over the other for Wifi usage except one has a 4dBi antenna gain and the other 2.5dBi. The ROS license can be upgraded anytime.

There is also difference in antenna patern where rb591g is sphere-like and rb2011 should have it more wide. So rb2011 would cover wider area but other floor may be problem. Am I right? :)

more manageable(not just more efficient), adjustable antennas - may make Big difference sometimes.
but some prefer 951 line because 'rackmountability from box" or simplicity/compactness.
as for "1Gb ports" that are purely Marketing part of, unless you going to use them as "managed switches" with empty config w/o firewall and with fastpath/fasttrack.
personally i bought both (and still have units of both kind, along with remnats of 751 and 450g. 850 was apparently ~ useles, im afraid)in past, but yet prefer HEX/HAP approach, yet "mimialistic, compact, yet cute design". i don't like routers(or other networking gear) "be like smartphones", eg have LCD touchscreen(which isn't worthless idea, especially for SMB and corporate devices, is had to be Bit BIGGER to be usable to be fair. so its perhaps more feature for CCR devices, i think), or be "smartphone-like colored".
so if you ask me - go for new HAP. or get cheaper version of 951 without 1Gb ports(yet with ~ same amount of RAM and CPU clock).
