Sat Apr 08, 2006 12:13 pm

I use PPPoE last 2 months and all work fine but i have problem with bandwidth control, i have 2 diferent types of speeds, internet and local , any ideas how to dynamic generate simple queues rules every time when user connects to the server ?

Just create two different PPP profiles with different rate limit parameters and configure each user to use the appropriate profile for his account type.
Or if you are authenticating against a RADIUS server you can just send the ratelimit parameters you want for each account back to the MikroTik...

thanks Cmit but I forgot one thing, i have 3 differen account types each using diferent speed for Local and internet IPs. i will make 3 PPPoE profiles but how i can set different speeds for diferent IPs (Loacal & internet) ?
one more question:
1.Rate-Limit in PPP Profile is global (every PPPoE connection with this profile share the bandwidth set by this parameter) or is personal (every PPPoE connection will be set with separate bandwidth) ?

I am using traffik marking and sending that traffic to different PCQ queues.

Have you tried that?

something like this ?
mark_account_type1 -> PCQ1_int ; PCQ1_local
mark_account_type2 -> PCQ2_int ; PCQ2_local
mark_account_type3 -> PCQ3_int ; PCQ3_local

this will work but how to set dynamic mark each time when some PPPoE user connects to the server (i don't use static IPs for the users)

I have tried this, however sometimes I find users have more then they are allocated, so I have to use the rate limit, which is ok but limits the ammount of control available. I don't think my settings are wrong as I took them from the manual and modified the figures to suit my needs.
