Groove 5Hn Dead Ether Port

Thu Dec 26, 2013 5:49 pm

Hi All,
During a recent lightning storm a 5Hn groove has perfect functionality on the wlan interface but nothing on the ether port (poe working only)
I stripped it and saw the ether transformer close to the RJ45,I found a data sheet for this and a different type I took off a working RB532.
The original type is a H1632CG and the RB532 type is a ATPL-046AL ether transformer.
The pinouts appear the same except the ATPL transformer does not have the series coils on both sides of the matching transformer/balun like the H1632 does.
Will this make a difference, what is the reason for these 2 series coils ?
I have fitted the other transformer to the groove but only get a "10 Meg" LED lit on the switch and no ether connectivity.
I was hoping this transformer was blown but obviously the groove could have further damage, anyone tried this before or have any info ?
Grooves are not expensive devices but would be nice to have an extra spare router,
Cheers Dave

We have a lot omnitiks that stop working after a lightning storm.

with the 493 in a metal box we never had this problem.

It's strange since everyting on it is made from plastic. and we use shielded cables.
