Apple Tv problem!

I have a small problem whith my appletv. When i hook it up to my 951G-2HnD on Ethernetcable I just dont seem to get it to work properly. It´s slow and has horrible videoquality but connected to wifi it works just fine streaming Netflix and rentals all in perfect HD quality.
I tried different cables whith no success. Tried whith my old Linksysrouter and it worked perfekt as well.
Thankful for any new lead i could get!

I have exactly the same issue, AppleTV works fine on WiFi and very slow on eth.
Did you find any resolution?

Right now at our client home, I can confirm identical syndrome - no matter how we try, AppleTV box does not work over ethernet, but does just fine via wi-fi.
Had anyone find out, what could be the cause? TV works, PC works, but AppleTV does not work. Etherned port are put into switch mode ...

I don't know if this can be helpful but I have no problem with Apple TV (ATV3). Though this is with a RB2011UiAS-2HnD and I'm using bridge mode.

We have tried independent Ethernet, ethernet being put into switch, bridge. As far as AppleTV is connected to the ethernet port, it does not work, well, maybe it works, but at mediocre speeds. Our RB is RB951G-2HnD, latest 6.18 firmware ...

Thankful for any new lead i could get!
I have the same model, my first MikroTik and it's blown me away except for this seriously annoying problem.
Set
multicast-helper to
full on the wireless interface and you should be good to go.
/interface wireless> set 0 multicast-helper=full

I have same trouble too.
ATV3 connected directly to ethernet port 951G-2HnD, and when I try to play something from iTunes using Internet connection, or from my PC via iTunes Home Sharing, ATV begin buffering infinitely.
But if i connect ATV to 951G-2HnD via wifi, everything works fine.
Have changed a lot of length and type of patch-cords.
Anyone have solution?

I found temporary workaround!
I have connected ATV to my Mikrotik via dumb unmanaged 5-port Gigabit switch (TP-Link).
Problem has disappeared. Any ideas why?

Not sure what problems folks are having. I have the RB450G that connects two Apple TV's...Apple TV1 and Apple TV3 via a gigabit switch and cat7 Ethernet cables for two years...streaming Netflix, never a problem.

Not sure what problems folks are having. I have the RB450G that connects two Apple TV's...Apple TV1 and Apple TV3 via a gigabit switch and cat7 Ethernet cables for two years...streaming Netflix, never a problem.
The issue is (was) specifically with excessive buffering when attempting to AirPlay YouTube to an AppleTV; after starting the connection it would take up to a minute for the video to start playing.
It was happening to me on both ATV3 and ATV2 before setting multicast-helper to full on the wireless interface of the RB951Ui-2HnD.

Yes, multicast-helper=full.
But i am using Ethernet connection between PC and ATV3.

Yes, and the YouTube AirPlay (multicast) traffic from your iOS device lands on the wlan interface of the MikroTik before getting shuttled over the bridge internally and spit out the LAN.
The issue is multicast propagation between wireless and wired, even when they're on the same bridge.
I was going to lab it up and to packet capture but since the multicast-helper option resolved the issue for me I didn't bother.

Quoting myself since it looks like you're dealing with a different issue if you're pushing content from iTunes on a PC to the AppleTV, you're having issues with audio, or?

I don't have this setup, but since someone further up the chain mentioned that adding a hub/switch between the apple TV and the Mikrotik helped... have you looked at the link between the apple TV and the Tik? What is the port auto negotiated at? Is it flapping? Maybe try setting that port to 100Mbps / Full Duplex rather than letting it auto negotiate.

Sorry for late answer, was busy.
Right now I have tried to set port speed to 100Mbps FDX - no result, movie still buffering infinitely.
I don't have any ideas how to make it works without additional switch between Tik and ATV.

No, I am trying to stream m4v file via iTunes HomeSharing using Gigabit LAN. And it freezing.

Wow...that is certainly strange. Is all devices Apple? In my case, all devices are Apple made (for the synergy)...my Mikrotik RB450G is my main router that subdivided into two networks...my personal and my guess. My personal network is control with an Apple Extreme in bridge mode...to which all Apple devices (laptop, desktop/server, and IOS) connected via a gigabit switch or WIFI. That way I take advantage of the Apple synergy of hardware and software.

PC--glan--RB--glan--ATV = freezing
PC--glan--RB--glan--switch--glan--ATV = works fine
PC--glan--RB--802.11n--ATV = works fine

Set muticast-helper to full on wlan interface, you need to do it via CLI or enable advanced options.
If you've tinkered, reset the interface to defaults using the reset first.

Thanks for the help. I need a bit more. I have separate wireless hardware connected to the switch that feeds into my MikroTik router. I have eero wireless. So, I'm not using the Mikrotik for wireless. Can you help me with your solution? Not sure how to make it work.

Doesn't apply then, MikroTik isn't screwing with your LAN traffic unless you configured it to do so.
Good luck with those Eeros, you could have rolled a nice set of Unifi APs for what those cost!

Exactly the same problem: when Apple TV connected directly to Ethernet port all traffic stops after utilizing it for 100% for about 10-30 seconds. Adding a switch between Apple TV and mikrotik helps. Not sure how to troubleshoot.

Found the solution! Removing the ethernet port from the switch (master port=none) and adding it directly to the bridge fixed the problem for me.
