It'd be nice to have a comment column, with the possibility perhaps of having a wireless registration comment put in dynamically as the result of a successful RADIUS authentication. (Do the same for dynamic simple queues added by radius; the name field under simple queues is fine for this, but as it is, all I see is the MAC address ("username" in radius))
hi,
is there any change in the mikrotik radius comment attribute? I read all the forum and there are many requests for this feature. We would also strongly appreciate this feature.
Could we not see a more "multi mikrotik" environment evolve out of Winbox, instead of having a simple login screen for you to choose which router you wish to connect to - how about having a "tabbed" interface, where you can have several Mikrotiks open at one time in one Winbox, allowing you to have several winboxes open, but having several Mikrotiks open IN a winbox?
Do you understand what I mean? The concept isn't new, but it would be highly effective if done right.
I have but I find it's not exactly an extension of Winbox, rather it's an alternative. The Dude isn't very reliable nor stable and I choose not to use it (when you terminate it, it doesn't even die in the processes list).
The Winbox is a great tool but it hasn't really evolved. The Dude, as useful as it could be, is not really a great substitute for Winbox, it's merely a tool for monitoring a Mikrotik Network.. it doesn't get my vote really (keeping in mind we're discussing functionality of Winbox here).
Dude is not supposed to die in the process list, Dude server still runs. You can configure it not to.
And no, it's not merely a monitoring tool. Dude has Winbox functionality built in, you can browse some most common settings for devices with it. See this:

I appreciate that functionality is there.. but what about the likes of changing SSID settings, scanning, changing data rates on a Wireless Interface etc, I cannot find that functionality there, along with other stuff.
That's merely a RouterOS summary with some changes possible from the dude.
