New here

Sat Jul 05, 2014 9:03 pm

Hello there!

Well I am here because I got tired of all the noise my Extreme x430 makes.
On a search for a comfortable replacement I found:

MikroTik - CRS125-24G-1S-RM

I purchased one :)

I am hoping that I made a good decision.

Looking forward to hanging around as much as time permits.

Should be here by Tuesday.

Does anybody have any hands on experience with the above particular model?

Can you share your thoughts?

Regards.

Depends on what you will use it for. It is a good affordable switch, with ability to use routing for some ports as well.

CRS are a good basic switch. Once you figure out the obscure configuration they go really well.

FYI x430-8p is fanless and has 802.3at PoE.

Thanks for your reply.

I have the 28pt and is not fanless nor is poe.

That's a bit scary... :D

Well I currently use vlan's (un-tagged and tagged) and QoS. Not much more.
I might do some routing now that this is capable of L3.

Is that ok or might going to hit some obscure bug? :D

That will be fine. MikroTik are working a lot on the switch chip functions, from what I have read and also a lot for the new processor, so make sure you keep the software up to date. good luck!

Thanks Tony. So far all is well after a few head bangs against the wall. :)
