is it dead?

Sat Sep 20, 2014 5:05 am

I have 2 RB2011UiAS-IN units with the EXACT same issues.

not responding to ping, or factory reset.
I was able to use netinstall to install 6.19 but the symptoms do not go away after reboot.

The top LCD is white and has no response to touch what so ever.
The LED port indicator lights are wrong! I have a cable plugged into ETH1, but ETH6 LED is on.

right now its a paper weight and I don't know what to do to get it to work... I have put in my old routers as a bandaid to get these back up and running but they are HORRIBLE routers and just cause more work than they are worth.

don't forget to upgrade board firmware if possible (for the led problem)

We have like 1000 devices, and almost never had a broken one ...

how did you get them like this ?

No, they have been working fine for the past 4 months or so when I bought them. We are located in South Baja California. The hurricane that just ripped through here moved my antenna on the roof of this location and when I went to go re-align the antennas I noticed the white LCD panels on the routers.

I can get into the router using netinstall, upgrade the routeros, but as soon as I reboot, it goest right back to the white screen and wrong port LEDs.

The routers were plugged into a UPS so I don't think that power surge got to them.

I used the 6.19 upgrade package from the main MT download page. is there a package that will wipe the device and restore it back to defaults?

i think you have to net-install the full package not the upgrade one.

yeah, sometimes all-fat package works better sometimes separate packages better. its total mystery for me why different upgrades may need such difference.
you don't need LCD package for Rb2011. its LCD supported natively by "system package".
in my cases im even had issues on early rb2011's with earlier ROS, without such package removed/disabled in RB.

The same situation here!
I have RB2011UiAS-IN, it worked till yesterday. My PC suddenly lost connection and my router looks like in 1st post - white color screen with no signs, LED port indicator lights are wrong too - ETH6 LED is on, although a cable plugged into ETH1. I tried to use Netinstall with no success, device doesn't detected.
Also can't connect to device using serial... Any ideas?

Try other power supply and netinstall again. If no go, then it is time for rma.
