Mikrotik PC router with 4 wireless cards ...

Hello,

I have made a production "wireless" router (WLR) based on Intel P4 (motherboard with intel chipset), 512Mb RAM and 4 Atheros 5213 miniPCI cards installed in whereas all those wireless cards are configured as AP's (wlan1-ap , wlan2-ap etc.).

IP's are configured on bridge's (for example: wlan1 is applied to bridge1 and consequently IP is given to bridge1 etc.).
At the end routing is enabled between them (OSPF)

Bandwdith test between a wireless client (SU) and one of the wireless AP's (wlan2-ap) is approximatelly 4/4Mb (Tx/Rx)
Bandwidth test between the specified wireless router and a backbone Mktk router (through wlan1-ap) is ~8/9Mb (Tx/Rx)

If I start testing bandwidth between the wirleess client (SU) and the backbone router upload/download is <= 1Mb (~150k/500k or even less) over my multi-AP wireless router - WLR.

Mikrotik version: 2.9.24

Does anybody know why it's happened ... why traffic is not "stable" while flowing through the PC router ?

I appreciate any help and suggestion.

Why are you putting the wlan interfaces into bridges? Or is there some other interface in each bridge (like an Ethernet interface) which you just didn't mention?

Apart from that you have to give us more detailed information on how you have configured things. For example: Wireless AP config (why should a client only get 4 MBit/s to your AP), how is your "backbone router" connected/configured. How are signal/noise levels. ...

Every wireless AP has approximatelly ~15 wireless clients.
The router is a regular Intel based P4 PC with installed daughterboards and miniPCI cards on them configured as AP-bridges.

Characteristics of a tested location:

Signal strength: -80
Tx/Rx rate: 18Mb
TX/RX CCQ: 28/57
Signal to Noise: 17
Ack timeout: 107
Distance: 6-7km

Let's take a standard wireless client as a WRAP board with 70mW Atheros 5213 card.

I appreciate any help.

Thank you,
D.
